I love Independence Day! It is one of my all time favorite holidays. My parents always made it such an important day when I was a kid. My dad would always teach us about our founding fathers and my mom would have the grandest barbecue with the cutest food and decorations ever. Although I can't celebrate with them while they live far away I can still carry on some traditions. This year we celebrated with Jason's family. It was wonderful. But, to start out the day we decided to start our own tradition. We invited a family over for breakfast and then we read the Declaration of Independence. It was the highlight of my day! The spirit was so strong. The words are absolutely profound. Then, we went to a friends house for a flag ceremony (also amazing!) From there we went to the Middleton parade. We met some awesome friends there and Jason's sister Mandy's family. And after that enjoyable morning we headed to Jason's parent's house for a barbecue and fireworks. The day was perfect!
Parade Time
Poor kid, doesn't like the noise!
Krehl, like his brother, plugging his ears.
Gotta get that candy!
Festive food!
Tangled in a Kite!
Maddilyn's favorite part of the day was all the fireworks! She danced and shrieked with excitement all through the booming! Her cousins' Krehl and Kayson on the other hand did not like them! Maddi was the only one that would do the sparklers and she did just about all of them. Last year she wouldn't go near them. This year they were her best friend!
